I’m writing to you from Rotary International in Evanston, USA. As one of the staff liaisons to the Districting Committee, I wanted to provide an update regarding the April 2022 decision of the RI Board that affects District 9110. The decision states the following:
DECISION: The Board acknowledging local district growth efforts tentatively agrees to split District 9110 (Nigeria) into Districts 9111 and 9112, effective 1 July 2024, as follows:
District 9111 – NIGERIA, Lagos State: Alimosho, Amuwo-Odofin, Agege, part of Mushin, Ifako-Ijaye, Oshodi, Ojo, Badagry, part of Ikeja, and Ogun State: Odeda, Abeokuta North, Abeokuta South, Yewa, Ado-odo Ota.
District 9112 – NIGERIA, Lagos State: Lagos Island, Eti Osa, Apapa, Ikorodu, part of Ikeja, Lagos mainland, part of Mushin, Surulere, Shomolu, Kosofe, Epe, Ibeju-Lekki, and Ogun State: Ijebu-Ode, Ijebu North, Ifo, Sagamu
provided that 80 percent of the district’s clubs are 2-years old or older and the district shows significant progress towards reaching 5,000 members by 1 July 2023;
As you can see above and as you have been working toward this goal, your district needed to achieve 80% of clubs being 2-years old order by 1 July 2023 in order to be able to split into Districts 9111 and 9112 on 1 July 2024. Writing today, I do confirm for you that District 9110 did reach the requirement set out in the April 2022 decision and will be able to split on 1 July 2024.
I want to thank you, your governor line, and your district leadership team for this extraordinary work and effort to meet the requirements. I have contacted my colleagues in our Meetings & Events team to notify them as well, so that arrangements and planning for the International Assembly can be updated to include Districts 9111 and 9112 now in place of District 9110. You will see I have also copied your Governor-elect and Governor-nominee on this message as well as Director Chisanga.
